When Nicki and I first talked about potential Honeymoon locales, Nicki was pretty quick to dismiss the idea of a lazy beach vacation. She was pretty sure we'd be bored in comparison to our other travels which generally included discovering new cultures, outdoors adventuring, facing struggles as foreigners, or a mix of all three. With a promise that our travels in the future would go back to being hectic frenzies she relented.
It was definitely the right decision. With how crazy everything was leading up to the wedding, we enjoyed the hell out of the calm caribbean bath water and soft white sand. Reading on the beach, and relaxing in the Caribbean bath tub water with a few nice dinners before heading back to work.
We did skip away from our lazing around for one day to check out the scuba diving. The diving was great, and run by the local Club Med which gave us free food and booze for the day post dives.
We definitely enjoyed the dive, food and drink, but almost definitely wouldn't stay at a Club Med in the future... we felt like with every encounter we were moments away from being invited to a swinger's party.
With the generous wedding gifts, we splurged on a nice dinner for the last night. Cocktails, wine and seafood with a sunset view. A massive thanks to those who chipped in. Til next time, Caribbean.
